NBC Kids

NBC Kids is an American Saturday morning preschool programming block, which premiered on NBC on July 7, 2012. Sister broadcast network Telemundo airs a version of the block under the "MiTelemundo" brand, which debuted on the same date, featuring a separate lineup of Spanish-dubbed programs. Both blocks – which replaced the Qubo block (as a result of NBCUniversal transferring control of the television channel to Ion Media Networks) – are programmed by the Sprout cable network, and are targeted at children ages 2 to 9.
The three-hour block features educational entertainment series for younger children, which meet programming requirements defined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)'s Children's Television Act.〔〔〔 Programs broadcast by the NBC Kids block include ''Clangers'', ''Ruff-Ruff, Tweet and Dave'', ''Earth to Luna'', ''Tree Fu Tom'', ''LazyTown'' and ''Astroblast''.〔 Programs broadcast under MiTelemundo include Spanish-dubbed episodes of ''Barney and Friends'', ''Play with Me Sesame'', ''Raggs'' and ''Super Why!'', along with Spanish language versions of ''LazyTown'', ''Jay Jay the Jet Plane'', ''Fireman Sam'' and ''Noodle and Doodle''. All NBC Kids programs feature Descriptive Video Service on the second audio program channel for the visually impaired, with access depending on the local NBC affiliate.
NBC Kids/MiTelemundo is the second Saturday morning block (after the ABC-syndicated Litton's Weekend Adventure) to broadcast at least some programming in high definition. As a result of NBC and Telemundo's shared ownership with Sprout through Comcast, NBC Kids and MiTelemundo are currently only the Saturday morning children's program blocks on U.S. commercial broadcast television which are owned by their network's parent companies, and not leased out to third-party programmers (as such, it is also only one of two blocks among the major broadcast networks, English or Spanish, that are not currently programmed by Litton Entertainment – alongside Univision's Planeta U, which leases a 90-minute portion of the block to Disney Junior).
